Q. What is the recommended age at which to start private violin lessons?
A. The recommended age is 5 years. However, it is never too late to start learning and enjoying violin. Albert Einstein started to learn violin at age of six.
Q. I want to try violin lessons. Where should I start?
A. If you are a beginner it usually makes sense to start by renting a violin at music stores such as Tom Lee or Long & Macquade. Violins come in different sizes for different ages and the music stores will measure for you. When renting a violin for the first time don’t forget to get a shoulder rest.
Violin/Suzuki violin (age 5+)The most popular string instrument in a professional orchestra. You may wonder whether taking violin lessons is something that should be considered. The answer is a resounding “yes.” Learning from an expert through private violin lessons is the best way for a student or a beginner to quickly become a more proficient musician. Violin lessons encourages creativity, coordination, attention span and self-discipline. We use a mixture of Suzuki method, traditional method and RCM books. Violin rental is required to begin class.
